Sometimes life throws weird coincidences at you. Back in March 2010, I wrote a short post about buying a horrible coat and asking my ex to buy my half of our jointly owned house. Nothing worthy, literary or memorable. Except that, in two days' time I finally sign the house over to my ex and receive a lump payment, and today the coat I was originally looking for but didn't manage to find or buy back then finally arrived through the post. How can coats and houses be so connected?
In other news, the 10-day old (more or less) kitten I adopted back in August and amateurishly hand-reared has survived my clumsy maternal non-skills! Here, have a picture:
In fact, have two: she's achieved her ambition here, which was to oust the dog from his bed.
She's a demon live-wire, utterly unafraid of anything or anyone, ripping up wherever takes her fancy. She's already driven my other, previously dominant cat to peeing under the bed in fear, as she simply doesn't know what hissing means. You should see her doing her tiger's elephant hunting jump onto the dog's hindquarters. Luckily, he's quite good about it.

Brilliant, Pueblo Girl! That's what I call a result. The coat is fabulous. I am green with envy.....
ReplyDeleteAs for the kitten, if ever I saw a world ruler in the making, she is it :-)
That all sounds nice and tidy. Coat and house, house and coat.
ReplyDeleteThe kitten looks a cutie and quite a little madam. Bless... :)
Coat and house...result!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful tweed, too.
The kitten hasn't started swinging a handbag yet, has she? She has a certain look...and the way you describe her activities....
Good job the whippet isn't called Arthur...
Good news on both the house and the coat! You should be looking as pleased with yourself as kitten does.
ReplyDelete@ Perpetua: It hadn't occurred to me that it was a result, how strange. I suppose it is. Thank you for pointing that out.
ReplyDelete@ Sarah: A fairly humdrum example of synchronicity, perhaps. The kitten is very definitely of the madam variety.
@ Fly: Yes, so it seems, result. I'm a bit bemused. I hadn't been thinking of agency at all.
@ Coco: Looking as pleased with myself as the kitten clearly is with herself might make me a bit unbearable to others, I think.
Your maternal non-skills are well-honed, she looks so healthy. Too bad other kitty is a scardy pee-er. Any plans for the lump sum?
ReplyDelete@ Formerly Fun: She is brick-sound solid. This cat is a capital S survivor.
ReplyDeleteAs for the lump sum, another dog bed (or two) is clearly top of the list. Then mundane stuff - car repairs, a new roof so guests don't have to sleep with a bucket beside the bed to catch the drips when it rains, maybe a little shopping spree, and definitely some fun, a trip somewhere. We'll see. It's not a huge amount of money, in the scheme of things, but it's more than I've ever had in a bank account before, and I'm a bit overwhelmed.
Woohoo! On all fronts. Love the coat. Love the kitten (though feeling slightly sorry for the original feline). Love the fact that the bank account is full. Wonder what you will do with the bucket now. X
ReplyDeleteWooHoooo, a lump sum! It took a long time but you got there on both counts!
ReplyDelete@ Ellie: After that disasterous introduction, I'm back to keeping original feline and sassy kitten separate, until kitten hopefully calms down a bit.
ReplyDeleteThere's always a use for a bucket in the country. I've never lived anywhere yet that was 'finished'.
@ J: I've read some of your back posts, too, worrying about where things were going and how they would get resolved. As you can see, sometimes things can take a while, but they get sorted eventually. When I originally left, I never expected to be paid for my half of the house.
Congrats!!! Coat is great, kitten looks completely at home and well done on the house front! Very pleased for you. xx
ReplyDelete@ Mondraussie: Thanks :) xx
